Nursery technique | Pre- treated seed is sown in beds, in lines about 20cm apart, in May- June, soon after collection. Seed beds are also generally treated with a mixture of lime, ashes and small quantities of white arsenic as a safeguard against insect attack. The fine seed is mixed with ash or saw dust to ensure uniform sowing, and covered very lightly with fine soil.
